og post and beam construction allows great flexibility in the planning, design and technical detailing, and gives unique architectural expression to the incorporated log elements.
This flexibility in design owes much to the fact that log post and beam construction does not have the limitations of shrinkage and settling which are associated with log homes.
Choose or adapt one of our standard plans to suit your requirements or have our designer work with you to create a custom plan.
Unlike traditional log homes, interior and exterior finishes can be the clients' choice. Careful detailing around posts and beams creates particular emphasis on the structure simply because there are fewer logs than in traditional home.
Log posts and beams are milled, planed and grooved ready to receive your choice of framing and finishing details. Our homes are designed to incorporate traditional North American framing techniques but can also be adapted to other construction methods such as masonry or concrete.
This extremely flexible method of construction allows for much shorter delivery time than traditional scribed log building. There is also a great opportunity for clients who wish to act as their own general contractor to complete the project once our crews have erected the post and beam structure on their site.
Costs are comparable to timber frame construction. The difference being that the size of the logs we use (typically 16' to 18' diameter ) allow the structure to be seen from not only the interior but the exterior as well. This is one of the most unique qualities of these homes, they express the true nature of the material with which they are built.
Our many years experience as general building contractors has given us the insight into how the best possible finish can be achieved when detailing these structures. We believe we have responsibility in ensuring that the quality of our work allows for our homes to be completed off site to our own exacting standards.
