We distinguish ourselves by our attention to logwork details and how we combine them with traditional European heavy timber construction. What is also unique to our philosophy is our craftsmen are encouraged to develop new techniques and joinery to create variety between individual projects. Quite simply, over twenty five years experience and attention to detail are put into every home we build.

Perhaps the most important part of creating an impressive finished product, is the selection of the materials themselves. We take great time and care in sourcing our raw logs. Typically, we use western red cedar, its great dimensional stability (less shrinkage and checking) and natural resistance to decay and insect attack make it well suited to log construction. We also have extensive experience with other species such as fir, spruce and pine. No matter what the wood requirements are for your project, the quality of the raw material is of the same high standard.

Being logbuilders, timberframers and building contractors, we have a thorough knowledge and a "start to finish" approach to our product. An approach which is reflected in our finishing and detailing. Techniques such as rabbeting a log post to receive framing and drywall or using the natural root flares to create stunning design statements have set us apart from other log builders. Dürfeld is known for its fine hand peeled finish on each log and the use of traditional hand tools to dress the final product. Our dedication to excellence is carried through loading, transporting and assembly, with many of the pieces individually wrapped to protect them from damage and foul weather.
